Trading Doors

We offer our bespoke service to both architects, builders and developers, ensuring that demanding clients’ needs can be met. This service is offered to any individual for their own project or home refurbishment as well.

From being involved in the trade for many years we understand that it is important that a simple door change in your home is as important to you as is the designed look, the security or durability and the overall budget. Therefore at Trading Doors we can not only offer you a door range that will enhance your development or home but will also help to keep costs down with our excellent and very competitive prices.

Our sales staff are experts in doors and we specialise in supplying bespoke doors to complement the standard door products on our website. Almost anything can be made within reason, just ask us for a quote and we will be happy to provide you with one.

We make bespoke doors in timber, or man made materials or a combination of both that offers both high durability and even higher security for those projects that require it.

Our doors are carefully crafted by experts within the trade. Our bespoke doors are British made in the UK. We can offer hand made wooden external doors and frames in any design that meet local area Trust guidelines or even match your neighbours door designs!

We also offer steel cored, wood clad and very high security doors and can even offer doors that are acoustically rated or are bullet and bomb proof if you so required. We are happy to invite clients to the factory for the bespoke FORT steel door range so that you can see doors in production. Just ask us to give you a competitive quote and if the price and the product interests you, we will kindly arrange a visit with one of the Sales team.

We also specialise in 30 or 60 minute internal fire doors, oversize doors and other specialist doors for both internal and external uses. Please ask if you require help with any of these.

The type of door you need or the design can all be designed by you from your desktop at your office, or from the comfort of your sofa at home. In all cases we suggest sending us an email from within our Contact Us page and attach any architects drawings, pictures, or even your own hand drawn diagrams that you have scanned and we will do our best to come back to you with a very competitive quote for your project.

If you require any advice or are unsure if your project can be made to your specific requirements please send us an email or give us a call. If we require any further information we will either call or email you to discuss your possible options.

Yes, we charge for deliveries, however if your order exceeds £850 delivery will be free in Areas A and B, and free if over £1,100 in Area C.  We can deliver anywhere in Scotland as well as the Scottish Isles, Wales and England.  Please look at our Delivery Options page to see what the current rates are for delivery – remember we have free delivery when orders are placed in excess of £750 in certain areas.

Our returns policies can be found on the Returns Policy page.  We do accept returns but the guidelines in the policy must be followed.  We cannot offer refunds if the returns policies are not followed to the letter.

A U value is a measure of heat loss and is used by Architects and Civil Engineers in designing the overall thermal characteristics and performances of a structure being constructed.  It is expressed in W/m2k, and shows the amount of heat lost in watts (W) per square metre (/m2) of material (for example wall, roof, floor etc.) when the temperature (k) outside is at least one degree lower than the temperature inside the structure.  The lower the U value, the better the insulation provided by the material used.  Some external doors are therefore rated with a U value but only where they have been tested.  Not all external doors have a U value rating.

We offer guarantees on all our products.  These are manufacturer’s guarantees.  Please look at our Guarantees page to review the details of each of our guarantees.  Every item comes with a 10 year no-quibble guarantee, except where listed differently on individual products.

Some products only come with a 1 year manufacturer’s guarantee, and where this applies, it will be clearly listed.

As long as the goods have not been dispatched or put into production (if bespoke) from the warehouse / factory prior to you wanting to add to or change an order, then generally, yes, we can effect changes to the order.  If you forget something please contact us as soon as possible and we will certainly try our best to help you change your order.

If it is not possible to change your existing order, but a subsequent order is placed, we will try to carry out the deliveries at the same time, cutting the delivery costs if possible.

In all cases please refer to our Terms & Conditions of Sale for specific information that applies to your order.

The manufacturer’s advise that a door cannot be trimmed or cut-down excessively.  By cutting or trimming a door by more than what they advise will void their warranties (guarantees).

No more than 4 to 6mm should be trimmed from any side, top or bottom of a door.  However, in our experience with fitting doors, at times more may need to be cut from a door than the amounts recommended by the manufacturer’s.  In this case we ask you, the client, to give us written permission to void your warranties on the doors supplied, so that the fitting can take place.

This is a call that only you can make.  It is a risk that you may take, for example you buy an internal solid timber engineered panelled door from us and ask us to install it (or your own fitter) and it needs to be trimmed to 1945mm high from 1981mm (the original height), in this case if there was a manufacturer’s fault with the door which became visible after installation, you would not be covered by any warranty.

In our experience internal doors very rarely develop manufacturing faults and we would say that you probably would be okay in making the decision to cut-down the door.

If in any doubt please give us a call and we will be happy to advise you.
